LinkedIn Ads Case Study: A 35% Lead Form Completion Rate at Half the Target CPL
Date : November 7, 2026 By
A B2B technology company’s LinkedIn campaigns achieved a 35% lead form completion rate and generated leads at half the target cost per lead. The results were subsequently featured in an official LinkedIn case study. My work focused on connecting relevant professional audiences with useful content and making the response process straightforward.
The starting point
For B2B technology businesses, reaching the right audience is only part of the lead generation challenge. The offer must also give someone a reason to respond.
A professional may fit the ideal customer profile without being ready to book a demonstration or evaluate a product. Asking for that commitment too early can limit campaign response.
The approach was to use content-led lead generation, giving relevant prospects a practical reason to engage before a direct sales conversation.
What I worked on
1. Aligned targeting with the content offer
I developed campaigns around the relationship between the audience’s professional interests and the content being promoted.
This is an important distinction in technical markets. A broad job title can describe people with very different responsibilities. The more closely an offer matches someone’s work, the clearer the reason to download it.
2. Used LinkedIn Lead Gen Forms
The campaigns used LinkedIn’s native forms to capture prospect details within the platform.
For the visitor, this creates a shorter path between seeing an offer and responding. For the advertiser, it makes form completion a useful point to measure alongside acquisition cost.
3. Assessed response and cost together
A strong completion rate alone does not establish whether a campaign is commercially useful. It needs to be considered alongside the cost of generating those responses.
In this case, the campaigns delivered encouraging results on both measures.
The results
| Metric | Result |
|---|---|
| Lead form completion rate | 35% |
| Cost per lead | 50% of the target CPL |
| External recognition | Featured in an official LinkedIn case study |
The 35% figure refers to lead form completion, rather than the percentage of everyone who saw an advertisement becoming a lead.
Likewise, achieving half the target CPL describes performance against the campaign’s cost goal; it does not mean costs fell by 50% against an earlier campaign.
What this case demonstrates
LinkedIn lead generation works best when audience selection, the offer and the response process support each other.
This campaign illustrates the value of measuring those elements together: relevant content attracts interest, a straightforward form helps capture it, and cost-per-lead reporting shows whether that response meets the acquisition target.
